*** 1.0 ---

I have never played the game of tennis before now.

*** 1.5 ---

  I have played a little tennis but never on a regular basis.

***  2.0 --- 

I have begun to take lessons but I am unsure of my strokes and quite erratic.

***  2.5 --- 

I am still striving to keep the ball in play but my strokes are becoming more dependable.

***  3.0 --- 

I can now place my shots with some success and keep a slow rally going at medium depth.

***  3.5 ---

 I need more variety   and depth on my shots. My serve is becoming more consistent  but does not force enough errors.

***  4.0 ---

I can now trust my strokes which are becoming much more dependable. I can make lobs, overheads, approach shots, and volleys. I can place my serve and cause a forced error with it.

***  4.5 ---

I am now able to vary my game with pace and spins. My serve has power and accuracy.

***  5.0 ---

I have good anticipation. I will rush the net to force an error or make a winning volley. I can now execute a half volley when I follow my serve to the net. I use dropshots  with confidence. I am very consistent and rarely make an unforced error. MY errors now have to be forced by pace or pressure.

*** 5.5 ---

I'm now very tough to beat! I can place my shots consistently and dependably. Both of my serves are dangerous. I reach the quarterfinals or semi-finals of my club championships depending on the draw.

*** 6.0 ---

I have mastered most tennis skills and can vary my strategies and style of play to win competitions.

*** 6.5 ---

I have the power, control, consistency, and mental set to win open tournaments and have now been recognized as a top player with a national ranking.

*** 7.0 ---

I am truly an awesome player who can beat all of your club teaching professionals.
